PLANS & VISIONS FOR MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR SENIOR AMERICA, INC BECOME REALITY IN 2021


As the dreaded COVID-19 virus continues its second year gripping the world, organizations have had to find new ways to survive, and to keep their members safe and involved.  Since 2019, MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA has been confronted with its share of problems; however, this stalwart group of "ladies of elegance" changed these challenges into opportunities.  

During this time the PAGEANT organization became a 501c3 non-profit organization, hence its new name, MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA, INC., and the Board was established with: Johanne Santori/MSNJSA'06, Chairman; Jo Ann Gordon/MSNJSA'08, Vice Chairman; Denise Mechan, Director of Communications; Carolyn Slade Harden/MSNJSA'17 & MSSA '17, Director of Finance; and Terry Meade, Director of Pageants. The Board worked together to implement visions and plans for the future of the PAGEANT and the NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB.

Sadly, the MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA PAGEANT 2020 had to be canceled, but plans for  2021 are underway.  Recently, the Board announced the date as Thursday, June 3rd, and will be held at the Clarion Hotel in Toms River at 1:00 PM.  They produced a promotional video for the purpose of advertising the upcoming PAGEANT, and to seek contestants.  It was posted on their You Tube Channel in late February.  To view the 6 minute "branding" video visit www.youtube.com, and type "more then glamorous" in the search box.   Those ladies wishing to become contestants may also call Terry Meade/Director of Pageants at: 908-216-8534, or email her: tbm5201@aol.com. 

The NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB still remains as the service wing of the PAGEANT, and gives Showcases throughout New Jersey in nursing homes, senior communities, veterans homes, senior centers and libraries.  Due to the pandemic, however, they have not been able to perform live. The Board decided to to produce a second video.  The Showcase featured twenty three ladies who performed in the video which took place on Thursday, February 25th also the Clarion Hotel.  "Twisted Fantasies" taped the Showcase, and the video is currently in post production.  The Board has plans to release the finished video on social media and in DVD format.  More details will be given out at a future date.  

Diane Deluca/MSNJSA'16 continues to hold Zoom meetings twice a month, on Monday evening at 7:00 PM.  It is a relaxing hour of good times and good cheer.  She hopes that more ladies will tune in each week for these informal get togethers.  Also, members make efforts to keep in touch by calling each other.

 Kudos to the Board for providing the latest venue that allowed our "ladies of elegance" to come out and shine once again.  Last week's event at the Clarion was healing for both mind, body and soul.

A FOND FAREWELL TO BETTY JEAN PACE/MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA 2022

Betty Jean Pace, MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA 2022   It seems like only yesterday, when Betty Jean Pace graced the stage at Harrah's, captured the hearts of a distinguished panel of judges, and an adoring audience, and who won the title of MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA 2022.  During the year of her reign, QUEEN Betty Jean touched the lives of many senior Americans in her travels throughout the Garden State.  As the featured entertainer, with the NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB, her performances brought much joy and happiness to her constituents, leaving them happier than before.  The following is a glimpse of QUEEN Betty's fabulous year:   It was such a proud and happy time for QUEEN Betty Jean, when she posed for the first time with her new found "Sisters", in the NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB. 2023-THE QUEEN'S REIGN

                                                                                    Photo, Courtesy Ferlie Almonte Since winning the title of MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA 2023, Ferlie Almonte has been busy maintaining and keeping her varied commitments throughout the State.  Her first tri-mester has indeed been impressive, which included parades, speaking engagements, and appearances in NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB SHOWCASES. QUEEN Ferlie has received numerous congratulatory letters from local and State legislators.  Last July, she was invited to appear at the Ocean County Board of Commisioners open session meeting, where she was presented with a Letter of Achievement, written on parchment paper and encased in a glass frame.  Several NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB sisters attended the meeting to honor Ferlie as well.
