AN ON AGAIN, OFF AGAIN SUMMER OF 2022
The summer of 2022 turned out a bit disappointing for the ladies of the NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB, due to several cancellations of SHOWCASES; with the all to familiar reason being COVID-19 breakouts at various nursing home facilities as the culprit. Showcase Director Denise Mechan set up a great schedule, only to be shot down by this global menace!
Nevertheless, there were some good times where the ladies entertained and brought joy. On July 20th, QUEEN Bettyjean got people up and dancing at the Middletown Senior Center. Earlier in the month, the CLUB entertained on the boardwalk at Atlantic City for a post July 4th SHOWCASE. Unfortunately, there is no group photo to share, but it was great! Two new ladies who were contestants in the MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA PAGEANT 2022, have become regular performers. Suzanne Clare La Rosa/3rd runnerup, from Bayonne, sang in the latest SHOWCASE, at Mattison Crossing in Freehold, on August 17th.
On the same program was songstress Deborah Sica from Seaside Park. Both ladies have easy going song styles, and their renditons of popular songs from the 40's were pleasant on the ears.
Bettyjean Pace, MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA 2022, started her year long reign, and is keeping busy with her individual schedule.
QUEEN Bettyjean has received plaques and Letters of Achievement from local, State and US legislators. On July 13th, she met with Mayor Hill and theToms River Town Council at their Open Board meeting, where she was presented with a framed Proclamation of Achievement award. On August 3rd, she meet with the Ocean County Board of Commissioners at the Ocean County Courthouse in Toms River, and received another framed plaque.
Also, earlier in August, QUEEN Bettyjean met with New Jersey Assemblyman John A. Catalano, 10th District, Ocean County. Josephine Araniti/MSNJSA2007, was her chaperone, and was invited into this photoop.Although the Summer of 2022's schedule may have been curtailed, perhaps it was for the best. (It was quite hot, you know!*), but the Fall/Winter schedule is quite full, and the fabulous ladies of the NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB are looking forward it to.
The first event on everyone's mind is QUEEN Bettyjean's participation in the MS SENIOR AMERICA PAGEANT 2022, which will take place during the week of: Monday, September 5th, through Friday, September 9th, at Hershey Park, in Hershey, Pennsylvania. To that, everyone sends their love, support, best wishes and good luck!
