REFLECTIONS ON THE SUMMER OF 2015

As today's thunderstorms threaten to change the seasons, it seems only fitting to help summer linger on a little longer, by reflecting upon the activities of the NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB, and their current QUEEN, Sherri McGhie, MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA 2015. July and August were busy months for both QUEEN Sherri and the CLUB, with showcases in Jackson and, concluded with another appearance at Kennedy Plaza and the Armed Forces Parade, both held in Atlantic City.  QUEEN Sherri opened the NJCC SHOWCASE at Care One in Jackson on July 23rd, with a lively song. She joins the ladies for the finale, as they sing a medley of songs from Motown, saluting Diana Ross and the the Supremes. In between events, QUEEN Sherri made a personal appearance at the Tropicana Casino and Resort.  On Monday, August 24th, she attended the casino's "TASTE OF THE QUARTER", and was a celebrity chef.   The annual event was held for the benefit of the United Way.  She was chaperon...

NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB SHOWCASE IN ATLANTIC CITY

The City of Atlantic City invites the NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB to give 2 showcases during the summer.  The first show was on July 7th on the stage of Kennedy Plaza, located opposite Boardwalk Hall, on Mississippi Avenue.  In spite of the humid weather, an ample crowd of vacationers filled the seats of the outdoor theater for the 5:00 PM show. The following comments were submitted by on-site reporter Terry Meade, NJCC member and performer, and her husband Mark, who took the photos. SHERRI MCGHIE/MSNJSA2015 BEGINS HER REIGN

Since her coronation on June 3rd, Sherri McGhie, MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA 2015, has begun her year long journey of promoting the positive aspects on aging in the Garden State.   So far, she has kept her work schedule and duties as Queen in balance, and she is having the time of her life. Lawmakers from all levels of government have recognized Queen Sherri for her achievement, with letters of congratulations, and official proclamations. Earlier this month, Sherri met with the members of the Manchester Town Council at the bi-monthly open meeting.  President Brendan Weiner, President presided over the meeting.   He introduced Sherri to the residents, and read the Proclamation of Achievement, in lieu of Mayor Palmer, who was absent.   The photo also includes Sherri's entourage: Josephine Araniti/MSNJSA2007, her mother, Norma McGhie/MSNJSA1995, and Patricia Oraveta/MSNJSA2001. EXCITING NEWS FROM TERRY & MARK MEADE!

Terry Meade, of Princeton Junction, participated in the MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA PAGEANT 2014.  Since then, she joined the NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB, and performs regularly in their showcases. Terry Meade and her husband Mark of 50 years, have been selected by the New Jersey Sharing Network Foundation, and will be their guests in Pasadena, California, as 2016 honorees on the DONATE LIFE Rose Parade float on New Year's Day!  On June 4, 2008, then 64 years old, Mark received the "gift of life", a new heart.   Since 2005, Mark had suffered numerous heart attacks, and was in end-stage congestive heart failure, when he was admitted to Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he waited 4 months for a heart.  Since his transplant, they are committed to raising awareness of the critical need for organ and tissue donations.   Mark and Terry honor their donor in everything they do ... every day!  They are passionate advocators, an...

SHERRI MCGHIE WINS THE NEW JERSEY CROWN FOR 2015!

   There she is!  Sherri McGhie, from Manchester/MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA 2015. Fifteen ladies graced the stage at Harrah's Casino Resort Hotel and Casino, on Wednesday, June 3rd, and participated in the MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA PAGEANT 2015.  Since 1971, the time-honored Pageant has given honor to women who have reached the "Age of Elegance".   The CLASS OF 2015.  In May, the contestants met for the first time at a luncheon which was sponsored by the NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB.  In the back row from left to right are: Mary Neafie/Barnegat, singer; Grange Lady Haig Rutan/Monclair, singer; Amelia Wilson/Sewell, singer; Susan Conover/Ledgewood, Irish Dance; Paula Jensen/Blairstown, singer; Carol Ann Rosario/Southampton, singer, 4th RU; Nancy Syphax/Trenton, tap dancer.  1st row: Virginia Campbell/West Deptford, singer, 2nd RU; Patricia Marie Genovese/Dover, interpretive dancer, 3rd RU; Phyllis Burton/Whiting, baton twirlling rapper...

FAREWELL TO THE QUEEN!

Diane De Salvo Beebe, MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA 2014 Every year since 1971, women who have entered the "Age of Elegance" , have participated in the MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA PAGEANT, held in Atlantic City, in hopes of winning the title.  Next week, the annual rite of passage for women 60 and over, will take place on Wednesday, June 3rd, at Harrahs Resort Hotel and Casino, in the Concert Venue Theater at 1:00 PM.  It is an exciting time for the contestants, but bittersweet for the current QUEEN, Diane De Salvo Beebe.   During the year of her reign,  Diane has touched the lives of so many older Americans in her travels across the Garden State, leaving them entertained, and happier than before.  Diane used her title to give hope and encouragement to everyone she met, through personal appearances, and performances with the NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB.  Below is but a brief recap of her year: Diane met at Town Hall to accept an award from...

MEET THE CLASS OF 2015

 Diane De Salvo Beebe MSNJSA2014, gave valuable advise to the CLASS OF 2015, as she reflected upon her experiences as Queen during the past year. THE CLASS OF 2015 The MS NEW JERSEY SENIOR AMERICA PAGEANT 2015, is only weeks away, the exact date of which is: Wednesday, June 3rd, Harrahs Resort and Casino/Concert Venue Theater, at 1:00 PM.  A "Meeting Of The Contestants" was held on Wednesday, April 22nd, at the American Legion Post #166 in Lakewood, for 15 lovely women, sponsored by the NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB, and STATE PAGEANT ADMINISTRATOR & DIRECTOR, Johanne Santori.   President Lyn Gibson/MSNJSA2000, conducted the first part of the meeting, by welcoming the contestants, and asked the committee chairpersons to talk about the history, mission and purpose of the NJCC.  Director Santori gave an overview of Pageant highlights.
