"FAST AWAY THE OLD YEAR PASSES"
"..... Hail the New, Ye Lads & Lasses!" The lyrics to this familiar Christmas carol describes how quickly the time has passed since the last article. However, it in no way means that the lovely ladies of the NEW JERSEY CAMEO CLUB have been idle. There have been meetings and Showcases during the Fall and Winter of 2024.
During this time QUEEN Lenore Cibelli-Lambert has been busy with her own personal appearances. She has received plaques and letters of accomondation from New Jersey lawmakers. During the Christmas season, Lenore launched a personal campaign to collect socks for the poor. She collected over 2,000 pairs and presented them to the principal of her local school for distribution. She looks forward to other parades and events in the new year.
The Fall was a fun time for the ladies at their quarterly meeting on October 15th, when they celebrated Halloween.
QUEEN Lenore seated in the center, chose a royal costume, while the ladies were clad in a bevvy of imaginative costumes.
There were several Showcases in November. Here is an apres showcase photo early in the month.Unfortunately, the month of December saw the rise of COVID and the noro virus, and as a result, the Christmas Showcases were less this year.
The only Christmas Showcase was held on December 6th, at the Four Seasons Adult Community in Lakewood. The ladies were treated to lunch before the show. Administrator Johanne Santori/MSNJSA'06, encouraged the ladies is the audience to become contestants in next year's MSNJSA PAGEANT.
Although the weather was very cold, the Atlantic City Christmas Parade was still lots of fun. Sixteen ladies rode on the float, smiling and waving to the cheering crowd along the parade route.
The first quarterly meeting that was held on January 14th at the Manahawkin Elks Lodge was quite informative. Denise Mechan, Director of Communications gave an overview of CLUB plans for 2025. As Showcase Coordinator, she announced an impressive schedule of Showcases for the coming season. Terry Meade/MSNJSA PAGEANT DIRECTOR, announced this year's theme as "Hooray for Hollywood." She is currently searching for contestants, and asked the membership to pass the word around. Carole Lelli, the new chairman of the Social Committee, is looking for ideas for day trips.
It was the annual potluck meeting, and ladies brought in their favorite dishes. The food was delicious! Kudos to Carole and committee.
The meeting concluded on an optimistic note, with words of hope and well wishes that the sisters stay healthy in mind and spirit in the year ahead.
